Quintessentially British

Now that the festive storm has past I want to take this opportunity to say a huge happy new year to everyone and thank you once again for visiting my blog!

My first 2015 entry is a venue I visited over the Christmas holidays, Hanbury Manor. Hanbury Manor is a wonderful 5 star venue based in Hertfordshire, Ware. It is well known for its majestic building and quintessentially British afternoon tea.

I visited the hotel with my parents, they live in Cyprus and were visiting the UK for Christmas so I knew a cup of tea, scones and a glass of bubbly was long over due.

The hotel is part of the Marriot brand and ,although I knew it was a five star, it exceeded all expectations. The hotel is hidden down a grand driveway which boasts the golf course and the building gives you the impression that you are arriving at Downton Abbey! Upon arrival we were shown to a table next to the open fire in the Oak Hall and given a menu of tea choices (any one who knows me will know I love tea!)

The service and food was amazing and would work perfectly for VIP weekends for clients.  After lunch the Sales Manager, Susan, took me on a show round and around some of the 200 acres on a golf buggy. I was impressed to see that the grandeur of the Oak Hall continued throughout the hotel and a beautiful chapel lays at the heart of the hotel- perfect for weddings and private dining.

This hotel has now been added to my list of preferred venues and I will be contacting them with future VIP weekends, spa and golf away days and private dining proposals.

If you are ever in Ware, be sure to visit Hanbury Manor and request the table by the open fire.

  4. Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog! This place is how I imagined England to look like when I first moved in. The reality though can be quite different, however, it still is home for me now!
