It is easy to fall in love with England at Christmas…
As the depth of Winter approaches so does cold nights, bright lights, mulled wine, trash TV, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and most importantly Christmas work parties!
For the last couple of weeks I have been predominantly placing the finishing touches on client Xmas events. This year I have seen a trend in clients organising more ‘civilised’ events rather than the old fashioned, low budget office party.
Last Friday we had a group of 20 people in Manchester for their Xmas celebration. The following venues were used:
Accommodation: Radisson Blu Edwardian, Peter Street – This venue was originally picked due to their excellent location next to the German Markets. This hotel is bursting with character and was once home to the Hallé Orchestra and has played host to years of legendary performances by the likes of Bob Dylan and the Sex Pistols. I dealt with in-house events organisers- Joanna and Melanie and they were great, always going the extra mile and ensuring that the event went without any hiccups.
Pre dinner drinks reception: Opus Bar, Radisson Blu. I like to arrange pre dinner drinks within the accommodation (just to make sure people aren’t lost or late!) I arranged a private area with champagne on ice and the clients had their own member of staff for waiter service. We pre ordered bottles of champagne and these were poured as the clients entered the bar. We decided against signage (to keep the thought of work far from everyone’s mind) but this meant we had to stay eagle eyed for missing attendees. The private area consisted of relaxing sofas which sets the relaxing ambience for the evening.
3 Course Meal: Restaurant Bar and Grill. I went on a site visit on numerous venues around Manchester and ended up choosing RBG as they could seat everyone on one long table and the meal options are pre-ordered. RBG has a great atmosphere on a Friday evening, with an in-house DJ and I knew that they would be used to large bookings . I picked a long table next to the kitchen and upstairs where there is a buzz from the bar but everyone is seated. The RBG staff managed the group booking excellently and the food was delicious. I sat on a separate table where I enjoyed Tomahawk Steak which was as big as my head! (picture to below prove it!)
After Dinner Party: Panacea. At 10:30pm we went down to Panacea (a well known hot spot for celebrities) I obtained VIP entrance, queue jumps and a table for the clients to gather (dance) around. This was the perfect ending to a Christmas party as the clients got to let their hair down, dance, drink and (just in case they missed the corny office party) we even had some musical inflatable instruments to play with!
A wonderful evening with suppliers who make my life easier!
